Speech therapy should be focused on the client.
After spending several years working with adults and children in various settings and listening to understand the many needs of these clients, I soon realized that the Memphis, Tennessee-area was lacking something very crucial – a speech therapy practice that was geared toward the client.
Over-and-over, I would hear about how clients were discharged from large hospital-based clinics, private practices, and home health agencies due to insurance regulations or “slow progress.”
Clients were just a number.
Often, these were clients who required extensive speech-language pathology services after a detrimental circumstance; however, the insurance companies simply did not care.
Other times, while working with clients in larger settings, I would pick up on the fact that many of them were slipping through the cracks and simply not receiving the level of services they truly required. These facilities had so many patients on their caseload that each one was unfortunately just another number.
That was the kind of working environment that made “good therapists” do mediocre work just to keep their heads above water. That type of situation isn’t fair to the client.
Being in these situations for far too long and knowing that I have what it takes to make a difference in the lives of so many people suffering unnecessarily, I knew I had to make a positive change in the way services were being provided.
Fast forward to 2017.
Fast Track Speech Therapy, PLLC was born! Finally, the Memphis area has a caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and – wait for it – mobile (!!!) Speech-Language Pathology practice that treats clients in only ways that are beneficial to them and their families.
This allows clients from all walks of life to receive the life-changing therapeutic interventions they need in the comfort of their own homes. No more messy insurance forms to fill out, no more transportation struggles, and no more wait lists for sub-par therapy services.
I am very blessed to be in the position to provide life-changing speech therapy services, and it is a responsibility that I take very seriously.
