Helping Adults Regain Independence

Swallowing – Communication – Cognition

Speech therapy in the comfort of your own home

Not a happy New Year’s

Patricia had a massive stroke on New Year’s Day. She couldn’t walk, talk, or eat. She was in the hospital for three months before transferring to a local inpatient rehab hospital.

Fast-forward one week.

Things were finally looking up. Patricia was receiving speech therapy five days a week to help her relearn how to speak and swallow, and she was even getting to try pureed foods for the first time in months.

One week later, on April 15th, it was time for Patricia to discharge home. She was devastated. She still couldn’t swallow foods without help, and her speech and language had a long way to go before she could communicate with her family again.

There was a three-month long wait list to receive home-health speech therapy once a week through her insurance.

The home-health therapy wait-list inspired research

That’s when Patricia’s daughter, Tammy, decided to Google adult speech therapists in the area and called me.

This was the first step toward getting Patricia the help she needed to continue gaining her independence.

After a free telephone consultation and scheduled in-home evaluation, I was able to connect with Patricia’s care team (family, previous speech therapists, doctors, case managers, and specialists) to get a full history of what had happened – and what needed to be done.

We began working together diligently. Patricia is feeling like herself again. She is enjoying being back at work part-time and is now able to participate in mealtime with her family again. She is most excited about finally getting to eat Thanksgiving dinner with her family and friends.

Calling Fast Track Speech Therapy was the best thing Tammy could have done for her mom.

My specialty is neurological conditions

Patricia’s story is amazing, but it isn’t unusual. Fast Track Speech Therapy has helped many survivors of stroke, brain injury, and various neurological conditions to regain their independence for swallowing, communication, and cognition.

Hi, I’m Kathryn.

Starting your road to recovery with Fast Track Speech Therapy, PLLC, will be simple and meaningful with me as your Speech-Language Pathologist.

Whether you are struggling to communicate, swallow, eat, interact, or otherwise function in a social setting, I know exactly how to help you without wasting any more of your precious time.

You’ve probably been through it before – speech therapy in a hospital or rehab that was too busy and overwhelmed to really care about you and your needs. Or perhaps it was an outpatient clinic with therapists who were really good but insurance stopped paying. Or a home health speech therapist spent a few minutes talking with you, just to end up giving you a sheet of paper with exercises for you to do on your own.

Each false start has led you to feel more discouraged and unmotivated than the one before.

The good news is that you are finally in the right place. By deciding to work with me, you are choosing to make yourself a priority and get the very best care possible.

I am personally dedicated to ensuring you get the help you need as soon as possible.
